Not possible.

How to handled is depend on your business. You can have the customer reenter credit card info or you link both customer profile ID to the same customer in your system, or what ever work for you.

I haven't started playing with CIM -- only reading through the documentation so far. We currently use AIM transactions and are looking to move to CIM, so that card information is not stored on our system.

For this example, assume Customer Profile 'A' has Payment Profile 'X' and Customer Profile 'B' has Payment Profile 'Y'.

If we later realize the two customers were duplicate records for the same person, is there a way to assign Payment Profile 'X' to Customer Profile 'B', so we can just use that customer from that point on?

If it's possible, what routines do I need to look at? And if it isn't possible, how is this situation typically handled?
