One time set up, recurring

I have been told by authnet support this can be done, but no documentation to do so. I have searched through this forum and cannot find the answer. I have a payment form that is doing subscription on a monthly basis. What I need to have happen, without storing the credit card, is charge a set up fee (applied to first two months) and then have it start a monthly recurring two months from purchase. Can someone verify that this can be done and maybe a bit of explanation of how?

It isn't possible to make a subscription that skips only the second month, so there will need to be two transaction requests for this particular setup.

1. A request using AIM to charge for the first 2 months.

2. A request to set up a subscription starting in the third month using the ARB API.
