This is apparently a minor difference in how American Express and Discover parse address information. Amex and Discover are not recognizing that any data has been entered when you enter "#" and so the address check is not being run at all and therefore is not applicable to the transaction.

Hi - We are running into a strange situation where if we have a street address and zip code set to # (just the hash char) it's approving amex/discover cards (incorrect) and declines visa/mastercard (correct). I'm not sure why we get an approval when we have it set to reject for code N (address and zip code do not match). The AVS code for these approved transactions is --> AVS Not Applicable (P).

We have our account configured to reject codes: BERGUSNAZ and to allow codes: WY.

Any advice on how we tighten our settings so we can have these transactions rejected when address and zip code do not match for AMEX/Discover?

Jeff
