Renewing a hold (auth_only)

Hi all.

Lets say I place a hold on a card (auth_only). I know that this hold expires in 30 days. But lets say for some reason I do not want to charge (prior_auth_capture) this transaction untill after 30 days. Is there a way to renew the hold before it expires for an additional 30 day period?

So I will have to place a new auth_only request on that card?

Basically if I want to renew the hold, that means i need to create a new hold on that card right? This should yeild a new transaction Id which will expire 30 days from the day I place a hold (lets say on the 29th day). Correct?

yes, but the question is why? And the hold expire days are depend on the credit card issuing bank. So it could be less then 30 days.
