When is CVV Required?

I am writing a script to update the Authorize.net credit card for an ARB subscription. I see that CVV is not required. Is CVV only entered at the initial setup with a subscription?

What about if the user is changing the card entirely for a subscription?

Notes

: include this element only when the merchant has set the card code value field

to required in the account settings. The value itself is never validated

Ok, so does that mean that it is just for show? They could enter the wrong CVV and it makes no difference?

Also, as a side note, is there any validation on the name associated with the card on file?

Yes, since the CCV is not saved.

It doesn't do validation before creating an ARB, if you need to, you will need to use AIM to validate then create ARB only it if success.
