I tried to search the site for the information, but I couldn't find it so I've opted to ask:

Can authorize.net be used to sell software?

Is there a minimum pricing when selling and what is the minimum pricing?

Is setting up a working point of sale account with authorize.net free, and if not, what is the pricing for services?

Authorize.net is a Payment Gateway http://www.authorize.net/company/whatwedo/

You would need a merchant bank account first to setup a authorize.net account.

Assuming I have a bank account established, what processes would I have to go through to produce a clickable buy link, which, once paid, would supply a link (a link that I'd supply but I'm open to alternatives) to a given piece of software to download?

Is there a minimum price on items sold? I ask because some payment processors won't accept items that sell below a certain amount.

Every Transactions have a transaction fee from a.net http://www.authorize.net/solutions/merchantsolutions/pricing/ and your merchant bank. And there isn't a min price that I know of.
