Can I make a credit to a customer's credit card after a purchase?

My company offers digital coupons to customers view mobile phones, and I'd like to see if we can link our digital coupons to credit cards. It would work like this.

1. Customer selects a coupon. Coupon gets linked to their credit card.

2. Customer makes a purchase and redeems coupon by swiping credit card.

3. We see that the customer redeemed a coupon, credit the discount back to their credit card.

Is this possible?

You mean a credit transaction? The only issue with that it, it will have to be settled first before you can credit it.

It better to just take it off from the total before you send it to authorize.net
