When using a UK processor, the credit card billing address State field is required. However, UK doesn't have states (or provinces). Should the county be passed in the <State> field instead?

For the online ecommerce form, would it be good practice to label the field something like "County (or State/Province if outside UK)"?

As you have mentioned, the State field in the billTo address is mandatory for processors in the EU.

For this field, UK merchants should pass the county name. That will suffice.

We will ask the relevant team if they can update the online pages as well, so that this information is relayed.
