Create customer payment profile from transaction data

I am unable to create a customer and payment profile using createTransactionRequest. According to the Auth.Net API documentation I should be able to specify a profile and then set "createProfile" to true and it should create those profiles when I charge the card. In testing the card gets charged but no profiles are created nor is any error raised. Has anyone else tried this? Is it possible to create a customer profile, payment profile when creating a credit card transaction or am I misinterpreting the API Doc.
