CP Charge an existing customer

I would like to charge an existing customer using the CP API? Is this possible? For instance, using CIM I can easily do this. I cant use the CIM API in a different project since it uses MicroFramework and we are using our home grown HttpClient.

Authorize.Net accounts are only capable of processing either Card Not Present (eCommerce) or Card Present (retail). It is not possible to process both on the same Authorize.Net account. I'm not sure I understand what you are referring to with CIM here. CIM cannot be used for "Card Present" transactions under any circumstances.

My specific question was whether I need seperate accounts for CP/CNP and the answer is yes. Thanks for responding anyway.
