Online payment form for SIM shows Invoice Number astrisks (*)

One of the records shows in authorize.net customer invoice number and customer number is single digit asterisk (*), although our records show real invoice number/customer number. although we first create customer invoice number and then save that invoice number to our database and then we send that invoice number to Authorize.net Payment form, how come authorize.net got invoice number as asterisk (*). Everyday we have more than 1000 transaction and we never seen such type of invoice number in our database. Only in authorize.net two times since 2012. Authorize.net should put some sort of validation for invoice number or customer number. Authorize.net payment form is accepting single digit asterisk (*) as invoice number /customer number although we never send that kind of invoice number. Is there any third party involve between merchant and authorize.net interface? Although successful transaction in Authorize.net but our record did not update due to invoice number did not match? any suggestion. Thanks in advance.....

One possible reason might be the format of your invoice number.  Authorize.Net checks if you are passing what appears to be sensitive information in fields returned in the response.  If it detects those, it will change to an asterisk.  Examples include a 3 or 4 digit code which looks like a CCV, or a 16 digit number, which appears like a card number.

We are sending invoice number / customer number as Alpha numeric 18 character long. It should not look like credit card or ccv.
