What Is It?
The REST SDK that we host on GitHub(https://github.com/CyberSource/cybersource-rest-client-php) for PHP language currently supports PHP version 5.6 and above. We are upgrading it to now support PHP version 8.0 & above

Audience
Any customer that currently use the REST Client SDK in PHP language

Details
The version 5.6 of PHP is past its end of life timeline (https://www.php.net/eol.php) and is no longer supported, so users of this version may be exposed to unpatched security vulnerabilities. Because of this we are upgrading to higher version of PHP. This means that in upcoming versions of the PHP Client SDK we will provide new REST API features that shall support PHP 8.0 & higher. If you choose to stay on 5.6 version of PHP, your system will continue to work with SDK version you have, however, you will not be able to take advantage of the new REST API features.

What Do I Have To Do?
Upgrade your application to run on the PHP version supported by the REST Client SDK : 8.0 or higher, so that you can continue to consume newer Cybersource REST API updates pushed out to GitHub, periodically.

Which version will support this ?
REST Client PHP SDK (https://github.com/CyberSource/cybersource-rest-client-php/tags) version starting 0.0.41, that has been released on 5th June 2023.

Oh, I cannot express how delighted I am to hear about the upgrade to the REST API Client SDK for PHP! Kudos to the CyberSource team for taking this initiative and making it a reality.

Upgrading to support PHP version 8.0 and above is a significant decision that reflects the team's commitment to staying current with technology trends and security measures. Leaving PHP version 5.6 behind, especially since it's no longer supported and may pose security risks, is a commendable move to safeguard users from potential vulnerabilities.

As a user, I am excited to take advantage of the new REST API features and witness the improvements this upgrade will bring. It's reassuring to know that the team is actively working towards a better future for its users, and I am already looking forward to upgrading my application to support PHP 8.0.
