What is the ACH refund process workflow? What transaction statuses would I get back?

Hi,
You can check this diagram that shows the eCheck charge and refund process.
http://www.authorize.net/resources/echeckdiagram/
To issue a refund on an eCheck.Net® transaction, there must be funds available on your eCheck.Net settlement statement. You will generally see a transaction status of "Failed Review" when there are insufficient funds on the eCheck.Net Settlement Statement to cover an attempted refund for an eCheck.Net transaction.
Please check this link to see all the Authorize.Net response codes for both credit card and ACh or eCheck transactions.
Thanks,
Joy

Thanks.
As part of the ACH refund work flow, is there any way to check the return / chargeback codes programmatically? Or do I have to check the return/chargeback information from Report-Return section on the web interface?

Hi,
You are correct, there is currently no way to retrieve or check the eCheck return details through the API. It is necessary to log in and review these returns through the Authorize.Net merchant interface.
Thanks,
Joy
