Intermittent Connection Failures with AIM

We have been using AIM to process credit cards via our website for several months without any code changes to the processing code. For about the last three days, we are getting occasional times when we are unable to process transactions. It lasts for 3-4 min and is happening 2-4 times per hour. We are handling roughly 200 transactions a day.

 

When the problem occurs, no response is given, and an error code is returned: "Error connecting to AuthorizeNet" after a 40 second interval. Repeated attempts to submit an identical transaction does eventally process without error.

 

We have been trying to correlate failures with web server logs, but have not found anything interesting

 

Our site is operating using a LAMP configuration.

 

We're looking for direction on what to try next. Happy to provide any additional information. Really appreciate your help.

Hi,

 

We have not experienced any connectivity issues on our side, so I can only assume that this is an issue originating at your server or hosting facility. Unfortunately, I couldn't even guess as to the specific cause of the problem.

For other developers who experience this issue, the OP contacted us and confirmed that their hosting provider was having some intermittent connection issues.  If you encounter similar issues with your site, we suggest also contacting your hosting provider as well.
