Why would a VOID fail if the transaction being voided has not been settled yet? Our company preauthorizes credit cards, and then may not be able to ship the purchase for some time. In these cases, we will create a new preauth against the card, and then VOID the original preauth . In about half of these cases, the VOID fails.
