I face the same issue. I think the only way to find out is to periodically check the details of the eCheck transaction. I believe they all settle in a few days (up to 5 business days, if I am not mistaken) so you do not need to go back in time for too much to check if something bad happen to an eCheck transaction that you assumed was OK.
